Near my dad's office is a big pile of dirt covered with this flower. I think it's gorgeous, but I don't have a clue what it is... does anyone know?

It's the passion fruit flower. (Grows on a vine, right?) Watch and see if fruits develop; they should eventually turn yellow with a fragrance. The fruit is very tart and full of seeds; you can press it through a mesh strainer, then use the pulpy liquid for juices and cooking/baking. In Hawaii, it's also known as "lilikoi" - you might be able to google recipes.
