Easy Turtles

120407_20291.jpg, originally uploaded by mmharlan.

1. Preheat your oven to 250.
2. Spread out about 50 tiny twists rold gold pretzels on parchment paper lines cookie sheet.
3. Unwrap 50 individual rolo candies (a 12 ounce bag) and place in the center of each pretzel.
4. Put tray in oven for 4-6 minutes (enough to get the rolo soft and squishable).
5. Take tray out of oven and smoosh pecan halves on top of each rolo, pressing down to fill in the holes of the pretzel.
6. Let cool. Can refrigerate to cool. Sit out a little bit before eating, cause the caramel inside the rolo will get tough from being in the fridge.
7. Yum!

By the time the oven's preheated, you're ready to put the tray in. The hardest part of the whole recipe was unwrapping all those rolos!

Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

I came across a recipe that's worth sharing. I found it this afternoon and it was ready for sampling by dinner time. A perfect, sweet and light festive bread: Pumpkin Cranberry Bread.

The list of ingredients are simple and the bread is ready in an hour. It's as easy as mixing your dry ingredients into the wet and baking. I opted for pumpkin pie spice instead of the cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg since I would only have to buy one package of spice instead of three. I used sweetened dried cranberries and pecans.

This was done for a bake sale, so I divided the batter among six mini-loaf foil pans. I still had enough left over to make six muffins for me to enjoy.

New Beaded Lanyard

An update to the first lanyard I made a few months ago. This one can be worn as a necklace too, since my work IDs can just hook onto the strand.

Craft Project: Beaded Lanyard

I've been at my "new" job for three months now, and I'm still using the metal chain issued with my ID card on my first day of work:

Now that I'm done with school for the semester, I had some free time last night to string together something better:

I took some Beadalon wire and strung multi-colored glass seed beads on it. I threaded a larger silver bead toward the bottom and created a loop where my ID could hook on. Voila -- now I've got style!
