No, I haven't gone and had a baby! Over the weekend, I met my oldest & best(est) friend's newborn baby. I always tell people I've known Sarah since the womb, because our moms knew each other from their sorority alumni group here in town before either of us were born. But, we've literally been close friends since pre-school. At the end of July she gave birth to her first baby -- a son named Luke. Our schedules finally worked out and I got to visit with them. Luke is the most well-behaved six week old I've ever been around: not fussy, hardly cried (and when he did, it was a low, non-piercing sound). He let me hold him for a long time without getting antsy, right up until feeding time when Sarah had to take him to begin nursing. He's got the biggest deep blue eyes, just like his mom... who I think he's favoring more right now.
Now, I've just got to start knitting her that baby blanket. I told her to be expecting it for a Christmas present... now I have to really get serious about finding the right pattern and yarn!
I am so fascinted seeing the children that my friends from middle school & high school have had. So strange to know that their kids will be the same age we were when we first met in so few years.
