Today marks the one year anniversary of starting the South Beach Diet. It's hard to believe I've been following the plan for that long and actually managed to stick with it. My overall weight loss is down to 52.5 lbs., which has surpassed my first major goal of 50 lbs!
The toughest thing for me during the past year has been exercising regularly. I hate to do it. I dread doing it. And if I don't feel like doing it, half the time I won't. I've been walking. Occasionally, if I don't feel like walking I'll go through a taped workout using my Pilates ball, which I actually enjoy doing sit-ups with.
My goals for this coming year are to stick to the walking and move on to jogging. So far, my routine is to jog half of every lap. It's a slow start, but works for now. I also think I'll achieve my overall goal weight if I lose another 30 pounds, but that may change depending on how I think I look.
Congrats! I read your blog now and then and remember you talking about this before. I think you've inspired me to start the South Beach Diet. It sounds more like a sensible lifestyle change than a diet.
Posted by: Lori at January 27, 2005 11:54 AMThat's exactly what it is -- a lifestyle change. I think that's why it's been so easy for me to stick to. I eat 3 meals a day with a morning and afternoon snack, plus dessert if I want. I rarely get hungry and fixing/plannin/ordering meals is super easy.
Posted by: Michelle at January 27, 2005 12:25 PMCongrats! That is an incredible accomplishment.
I am doing SB too and the weight is coming off so slowly.
My husband and I were so sedentary and joined the local Y last month. I can't believe I start missing it when I don't go. I feel so much better about myself and don't feel guilty sitting around and knitting, knowing I've already worked out.
It's tough, but the end result is sure worth it.
Keep up the good work!!
P.S. Thanks for stopping by my new blog. It's a fun little project.
