as of late, not much updating going on. i think i've been occupied with adtunes, dieting and knitting. dieting is going well. after a slump of not losing anything for a week, i finally started losing again and am down to 17.5 total lost! i can tell exercising is getting easier, but i hurt my knee a couple weeks ago, so it makes it bothersome at times. on the crafting front: i've finished my latest project, a clutch, inspired by someone else. i just need to sew the lining. i really like it so far! and, i've finished it enough that i can move on to my next project, a baby blanket of sorts... one of my dearest friends recently had a baby! so, that should be fun to work on. any yarn suggestions for baby?
I was wondering why no updates. Congrats on the diet. Wow! You are making me want to try the book. I used your project idea and made knitting needles with my middle school club, the "Knit Wits". They turned out great! So thanks! Last, I think we made the same clutch. Did you see it was taken off of that site?? I am interested to hear how you made yours. What did you use as your 'sticks' at the top?
Posted by: Megan at March 16, 2004 09:41 PMCool! I'll have to check your KnitWits site -- did you post photos of the needles? I hope yours didn't turn out as heavy (in other words, unusable) like mine.
The clutch... the other blogger was asked to remove the info from her site by the designer, I think. I guess I'll have to post my pictures somewhere secret to avoid any trouble! ;)
I bought a wood dowel that matched my needle size and am going to cut the dowel to size and add knobs to the end.
Posted by: michelle at March 16, 2004 11:20 PMThat's what I am going to do too! What are you going to use for knobs? I was going to cut a groove into each end, then put a dab of superglue to keep the yarn from falling off because I wasn't sure what to do with the ends.
PS Did you see in the comments that the designers mother was that bloggers' COPYRIGHT professor?!?!
PPS I'll post photos of the needles on the Knit Wits site soon!
Posted by: Megan at March 17, 2004 08:45 AMCongrats on the Diet!! If you want, there's also an AWESOME book called the Body Sculpting Bible for Women. I do it's workout and i dont have to limit what I eat (except calorie wise, but they also provide meal plans if you dont want to) vitamin reccomendations, what all those ingrediants are and what they do.. anyway, it's great, and it leaves you feeling good.
as for baby blankets, i figured when i made my brothers that i would use a pretty multicolored pastel called Baby Soft. It's really soft, and makes an excellent blanket. it's kind of on the small side, so there's a LOT of it in a pack.
it's also machine washable, and really really durable. My cat chases my balls of yarn and she can't chew it up like the other balls i have.
just a suggestion :)

I just wanted to say congratulations on the diet! I hope you feel amazing because you deserve to. I dieted before Christmas and lost about a stone, but I kind of lost momentum...so you have much more will power than me!
If you crochet, a filet crochet blanket would be pretty and grows quickly for the baby.
Posted by: Naomi at March 18, 2004 03:46 AMthanks for the kind comments! i've never been this devoted to a diet before. i think it's just the layout of the diet -- you still get to eat food you like, aren't really skimping, feel full all the time. so it works for me and i don't feel like i'm missing out.
about crochet -- i know how to do it, but i've never been very good at keeping straight edges! and, i'm too obsessed with knitting to put my needles down!! :)
Posted by: michelle at March 18, 2004 09:46 AMMan, I just found your blog but the similarities between you and I are EERIE. Congrats on the diet, I will talk myself into South Beach soon, it's highly recommended on all fronts.
As to yarn -- my very most favorite baby yarn is Karabella Aurora 8 (worsted weight). You can find it at Patternworks.com. It's $7/ball, which is kind of spendy if you are used to Red Heart, but not bad at all if for 100% merino wool that's machine washable. It's SO incredibly soft -- and since it's wool, it has good give & durability & warmth, and being machine washable on top makes it perfect.
I need to go buy some more of it.
