as of this morning, i have lost three pounds -- an encouraging beginning. the meal plan included in the south beach diet book is very helpful, but i feel like i'm eating too much! the plan allows for three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner), two snacks (mid-morning and mid-afternoon) plus dessert after dinner. i'm finding myself eating even though i'm not hungry, and i'm not sure that's the correct thing to do. i wonder if i'm not sending the wrong messsage to my body. what about the "i'm full" signal i should be paying attention to? anyone have tips on how to deal with that?
Me too! I'm eating constantly except I haven't got the breakfast thing down yet. I can't seem to get my ass out of bed early enough to eat breakfast and get to work on time. HOWEVER, I have lost about 12 pounds!!! I want to lose ten more and think I might go back down to Phase 1 -- I've been cheating a lot. Pepsi. It's like a drug.
Email me if you want to be diet buddies.

Anyway, what I've heard a few times is that if you wait to eat until you're feeling hungry, then you will do a couple of diet no-nos: grab the first thing you see and gobble it down; overeat because you are hungry when you're preparing the meal so you prepare more than you really need. I think it's awesome that you're doing well! Keep it up!
Posted by: Kika at January 31, 2004 07:33 AMThe full signal is just to keep you from overeating; you don't have to keep eating until you feel full if you don't want to. A lot of people start to feel full and keep eating, which is not a good idea. Eating too fast usually keeps us from noticing that we're full, too.
Although I think that trendy diets are a bad idea, the South Beach diet is one of the best of the latest crop because it actually teaches some good eating habits, like breakfast and no junk food. Eating healthy foods more often (within reason) will teach your body that it doesn't have to store so much. I wish you success!
