Soda Can Tab Belt
soda can tab belt

1. Budget Living Magazine (Aug/Sept 04) had a craft project using soda can tabs strung together to make a belt.

2. I saved tabs for about a month -- if I remember correctly, I used about 150. I ended up with two different styled tabs. So, I decided to do one side of the belt using one style tab and the other side using the 2nd style tab.

3. The belt is threaded with two pieces of cord. I purchased neon green nylon cord from my local craft store. I think I ended up buying two strands each 7 feet long (14 feet total). I have maybe a third of that leftover -- I'm not sure of an exact way to estimate the length you'd need.

4. The above photo shows my favorite side of the belt. I like the way the cord crosses over the tabs.

5. The above photo shows the square shaped tabs. I don't like their shape as much as the rounder tabs.

6. Overall, the belt probably took an hour to string together. Once you get in the rhythm of what you're doing it goes quickly.
