Catch The Wave Ripple Afghan

1. This afghan was knit as a Christmas present for my middle brother David. His home is decorated in a deep color palette, including greens, purples and reds. I figured this would work anywhere in his home.

2. The yarn was Lion Brand Homespun, which has a very soft texture. It does fuzz up a bit with wear and washing, but from other items I've used the yarn on, it has seemed to hold up pretty well.

3. I used almost 2 skeins of each color for this afghan. I selected four colors: Baroque (light purple), Antique (burgandy), Arcadian (green) and Barrington (blue/dark purple).

4. The pattern I used is called "Catch The Wave" and is a free pattern from Lion Brand's website. I did change make some changes to the original pattern.

The changes to the pattern I made were the following: I used size 15 needles and I cast on 103 stitches -- which broke down into 9 pattern repeats (11 stitches each) and 4 stitches total for the left and right side borders. I also adjusted the instructions to ensure that all four colors were used evenly through the afghan.

5. In the above picture, you can see the full length of the afghan and the stripe pattern. The finished size measured: 74" x 35"
