Projects
I pretty much consider myself a "jill of all trades." I like doing lots of things -- specifically things involving arts -- crafts in particular. Below are completed projects -- all with photos, some with tutorials.

completed craft projects

NEW! kool-ade dyed yarn : i jumped back into a long hiatus from knitting to attempt dying my own wool yarn using kool-ade drink powder mix. following the instructions from "stitch-n-bitch nation" by debbie stoller, the process couldn't have been any easier or fun!

altered aol tin: the tin that started it all! this was one of my very first serious craft projects, and the one that i think is most associated with this site. those pesky promo cd tins come in the mail, if we're lucky, now you can do something useful with them.

marble magnets: the craft girl's starter project... i think everybody and their mother has made a set or two of these things. great for inexpensive, but lovely, gifts!

wire angels: adorable and easy angels for all seasons. made by winding thin wire on round objects -- couldn't be simpler!

custom journals: make that speckled composition notebook fit your style and personality. great as a gift for that journaling friend of yours.

homemade knitting needles: an afforable solution to your knitting desires. spend your money on fancy yarns and knit them up with your "new" needles.

"magic" headband: do what you fear doing to your knitting with this pattern -- rip it out for a quick faux lace effect.

knit hat: this is my first written pattern. i saw a cute knit hat, but couldn't find any appropriate patterns, so i made one up. it was a lot of fun to figure out and make somewhat comprehendible for any other knitters.

magazine covered canisters: recycle interesting magazine pages and empty cans to create a brand new desk accessory or flower vase!

decoupaged jar w/ candle: empty glass jar covered in tissue paper with a tea light inside.

superhero jar: empty glass jar covered with justice league unlimited superheros!

ribbon belt 1 & ribbon belt 2: Due to recently losing over 30 pounds in a four month period, I found myself in desperate need of belts to keep my jeans from falling down.

knit purses: includes three different styles of purses i made up from scratch as an alternative to knitting scarves. same concept as a scarf, just folded to make purses!

knitted poncho: my first knitted garment. i really enjoyed this pattern, but sadly never get any use out of the poncho. it's pretty, though.

altered altoid tins: This project is the same as the aol tins, just on a smaller scale. The perfect compartment for your marble magnets!

polymer clay covered tin: I applied my new-found knowledge of polymer clay (for my knitting needles) and covered an altoid tin. Turned into a fun project with lots of potential.

knit baby blanket 1: My best friend from college recently gave birth to her first son, who also happens to be the first of my friends to have a baby. I knit her boy a blankie.

knit baby blanket 2: A family friend adopted their first child from Russia, so my mom asked that I knit them a blanket for their new arrival. I knit the blanket larger to anticipate the 9-10 month old coming to his new home.

knitting needles & notions organizer: In an effort to clean up (and organize) my knitting basket, I sewed a custom case to keep all my tools for knitting in.

Holiday (post)Cards 2004 : This year I designed postcards for my annual card to send to friends and family.

Soda Can Tab Belt: A belt made of soda can tabs strung together. From Budget Living Magazine.

"Hand Knit by Me" Cards: Small cards that I can include with my hand knit items. An easy and professional way to pass along important information, such as care instructions, on the gifts.

Auburn Afghan & Ripple Afghan: I hand knit an afghan for each of my brothers for Christmas presents this year. The first followed a random pattern I made up as I went along. The second followed a free pattern from Lion Brand's website.
