1. to get the measurement for my belt, i wrapped the ribbon around my waist and added a foot to allow for folding over edges. i applied fray check to the ends of my ribbon/strap. alternatively, you could use grosgrain ribbon.

2. i thread the "d" rings onto my ribbon and folded down about 2 inches worth of strap. i hand sewed the end down, just making about two rows worth of stitching to ensure a secure finish.

3. for the other end of the belt, i folded down about an inch of strap and sewed it in place, again about two rows worth of stitching. for added detail, i sewed an "x" in the center of the end of the belt.
