Auburn Afghan

1. This afghan was knit as a Christmas present for my oldest brother Steve. His alma mater and favorite college football team is Auburn University, so an orange and blue themed afghan was an easy selection.

2. The yarn was Lion Brand Homespun, which has a very soft texture. It does fuzz up a bit with wear and washing, but from other items I've used the yarn on, it has seemed to hold up pretty well.

3. I used almost 2 skeins of each color for this afghan. I selected four colors: Ranch (solid orange), Colonial (solid blue), Ranch ( golden yellow/pink/orange), and Blue Ridge (blue/tan).

4. The pattern was made up as I went along. The only predetermined things were casting on 100 stitches and using size 15 needles. The rest was a mix of garter stitch and stockinette stitch rows at random intervals, which resulted in an interesting texture.

5. In the above picture, you can see the full length of the afghan and the random stripe pattern. The finished size of this afghan measures: 74" x 42"
