soda can tab belt

The latest issue of Budget Living Magazine has directions for making a cool belt using soda can tabs strung together. It takes a lot of tabs, but I've started my collection. Maybe one day I'll get to make this thing!

Note: Since the project I followed was from a copyrighted publication, I will not forward the instructions to anyone.

Knitting Update

rickrack.gif I've used up my ball of yarn on the Rick Rack pattern. It is a lot of fun, however I don't think I'm going to finish it as a scarf (picture doesn't show that I finished 5 sections total). I really don't need another scarf right now, or know of anyone who does either... So, I'll have to figure out something else to use the yarn for. Despite that, it has been a good learning experience for me: working the decreases, yarn-overs at the beginning of rows, picking up stitches and doing an additional cast on at the end of pattern sequences.

In other knitting news, I've completed my Paris Loop Poncho. I really like it too! On to my next project... hmm, time to figure out any Christmas knitting...

Knit Rick Rack

How to hand knit Rick Rack ribbon (Aug 2 entry). I've been experimenting with this technique for a potential scarf with some varigated wool I won from the Blue Blog recently. It's an easy process, looks great. Hope it works out as a scarf. |via jejune.net|

Potato Stamping ala Queer Eye

On this week's episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Carson made a custom shirt using a potato stamp and bleach. It looked really good and even -- no apparent drips of bleach in sight. The only similar thing I've found is painting with bleach. Might have to buy a potato and experiment.

switcheroo

Still working out some kinks (comments not working seem to be working now), but welcome to a new design.

I could use $100,000

You've probably heard of the various forms of "Hot or Not" websites (people vote if a photo/website/friend's photo you submit is "hot" or "not," etc.).

The latest venture of the site owners is: VOTE or NOT. It's a move to encourage voter registration, and if you win the sweepstakes you get $100,000 (plus the person who refers the winner to the site gets their own $100,000 prize).
