I need to get back into knitting. looks like a fun project to try.
Oh, that's so pretty! What a beautiful and special gift.
Posted by: alison at August 30, 2004 02:47 PMhow beautiful! that is an incredible gift.
looks like you've got the knitting bug... i am glad to see such a proliferation of posts from quidnunc :)
Posted by: jess at October 4, 2004 08:23 AMoh, also michelle - looks like this was worked in a single piece - did you use circular needles? was it at all unwieldy?
Posted by: jess at October 4, 2004 08:26 AMthank you for the kind comments! yes, it was done on a circular needle -- i hate joining pieces, so if possible, i avoid it. ;)
the pattern is really simple -- to get the effect you just:
cast on 110. knit for about 2 inches.
k5 p20 k20 p20 k20 p20 k5.
next row k5 k20 p20 k20 p20 k20 k5.
alternate between these two rows for the length of the blanket.
knit for 2 inches and bind off.
sweet! thanks. now if someone i know would just have a baby already...
Posted by: jess at October 5, 2004 07:07 AMI've cast on and pulled out the first 15 - 20 rows for a basketweave knitted baby blanket five times now and I'm going to start again and use this pattern--thanks for the much-needed inspiration!
