for the love of all that is holy... why can't people post pictures of completed knit objects when they give you pattern instructions? i'm not advanced enough to be able to imagine what a finished product will look like based on a bunch of written instruction. is it asking too much to take a photo of what you knit and put it next to the pattern? GRR...
Where are you finding this problem mostly? Online?
I think it's absolutely necessary to have a photo, no matter what level you are.
Yep, online. I don't know, I just think it makes sense to show what something will look like when it's done. I'm the same way with recipes -- always want to see a photo of what it should look like, ya know?
Posted by: michelle at July 18, 2004 09:03 PMOh yes, now that you mention it, when I was looking at the Knitlist Gift directory, a lot of the patterns didn't have photos.
Sometimes when there IS a photo, it doesn't help either. I did a blanket called Whimsy from Mission Falls. The photo showed the blanket all scrunched around a baby. Very cute, but I needed to see the intarsia and seed stitch border. I wrote to them and they said that was the only photo they had. I finished it just fine, but it was annoying to have no point of reference.

Posted by: Megan at July 21, 2004 12:31 PMKnitlist -- great resource, but totally lacking because the majority of the patterns don't have photos.
There is this one pattern (with photo) I had bookmarked, and like an idiot didn't print it out. Now, I want to refer back to the pattern's photo and the link is dead. And, I can't find the pattern OR photo anywhere now. The pattern is originally from Knitlist and, of course, no photo at the site. :(
