so, i finally saw the october issue of martha stewart living, and my question made it! wahoo!
i don't really remember how i worded my question about cleaning silpats after using them for baking, in the first place, but the question in the magazine is very eloquently stated. i highly suspect some copy writer fixed it up for me.
here's a scan of my question and "martha's" answer (i wonder how many, if any, of these questions she personally answers anyway?).
Neat neat neat!

So you do recommend buying a silpat?
I just got my MS Living today...Must go check it out!
Posted by: pt*:) at October 2, 2003 05:16 PMcookies practically slide around on the pan after cooking when i use my silpat! i grew up with my mom always using parchment paper when she baked things, so i like the fact that i'm not throwing away money and trash each time i want some non-stick action. on the other hand, i don't think i'd be upset if i didn't have a silpat... i think i'd make do.
it's just a matter of preference. but, they definitely work.
Posted by: Michelle at October 2, 2003 05:20 PMthat's cool :) but you may be right, not many of these questions are answered by her - why else does she employ her creative group?
Posted by: stef at October 3, 2003 06:39 AMyeah, that's what i think... i interned at a magazine and assisted this girl one day -- she spent her day reading email and looking through archives, etc for answers/responses.
it's still fun, though, to be included in the magazine! :)
Posted by: Michelle at October 3, 2003 08:29 AMcongrats - I bought it just because of you!
