back in town

after a long day of travel, i'm finally back in los angeles, after a very very busy trip home to alabama. although, i wondered if i'd make it considering the recent hoopla at the burbank airport the day before i planned to fly in there...

highlights of the trip home: my best friend, who i've known since before birth basically, getting married and running around in the mud at her reception. seeing joe cocker in concert at the chattanooga riverbend festival. laughing 'til i almost peed in my pants (seriously) at brian regan in atlanta. throwing up (for the first time since i was 14 or 15) several times at a braves' baseball game -- in the stands -- fortunately no one was sitting behind us. cutting off my hair, which i still don't know how to deal with. helping my parents clean out all the toys at the house and making sure all the parts are still there (oh the memories!). cleaning out and redecorating a room in the house, that hasn't seen the light of day since before i can remember. and, seeing more rain than necessary practically the whole time i was home.

friday five: hair

haven't had the time to do any of these lately... but, given the topic and the fact that i've had nine inches cut off since i've been home i figured i'd answer this real quick...

1. is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight? long or short? naturally wavy, short now... was down to the lower part of my back.

2. how has your hair changed over your lifetime? short to long, long to short, perms, straight, bangs, no bangs, left side part, right side part, middle "butt" part, blond, black, red, brown, copper/orange, blonde highlights, dark highlights

3. how do your normally wear your hair? usually, i just comb it out and let it air dry... eventually it gets pulled back in a pony or in a clip. otherwise for going out, blow out straight and part on the right.

4. if you could change your hair this minute, what would it look like? i used to always want to go completely blonde, but now that i'm older i've embraced my dark hair and am fine with just adding a couple colors of highlights. if i had to change it though... i guess i'd want my long hair back, i'm not used to it being this short again yet!

5. ever had a hair disaster? what happened? we were home-dying my hair with a dark brown "ash" type color... and it turned my hair dark brown/black with blue undertones, that eventually faded to green undertones... looked like i'd added in blue highlights though. it was truly awful. a few years later, i desperatly wanted a spiral perm, so i got it... but the hairdresser who did it didn't do anything but fry my hair with the chemicals, and i was left with a large frizzy mass on my head for a few months while it grew out.

wedding...

so, the main reason i am in huntsville was for my best friend's wedding (julia roberts, not included)...

all week it's been raining on and off... despite reports, we hoped that it wouldn't rain on the wedding day, saturday. it was bright and sunny (and annoyingly hot) when i arrived at the church at 230, and it started to drizzle a bit later off and on.

the ceremony took place, we finished taking pictures and most of the bridal party headed to the reception down the street. as soon as we (myself and another bridesmaid) hit the front porch of the reception location, the bottom fell out.

and... the remainder of the outdoor reception was spent in the mud. the ladies took off their shoes, held up their skirts a bit and we all had a great time! definitely a memorable reception. and, the bride didn't care one bit.

martha

this is just entirely too bizarre: martha talks... (yes, that martha.)

insta-tan...

has anyone, or known someone who has, tried the mystic tan? i need a quick, good tan -- i'm dangerously close to being whiter than the bride's gown! -- and i really don't want to do trial and error with the various bottle-tan products. i've talked to one person who know's someone that knew someone else that had good results...

i'm going to check it out tomorrow and likely give it a try. any confirmations or horror stories? i don't want to be an orange freak!
