watching the bravo channel's documentary on cirque du soleil each week had me lusting after one of the performer's hats: this chick's. (i don't have the little afro that she has, though, to help fill out the hat.)
i finally decided to make my own. it's fun and insanely easy because it involves no decreases. i'm pretty satisfied with it, although i might make another one because it's a little longer than i intended it to be.
I like your blog...sweet little design...nice to see Movable Type blogs that don't look ANYTHING like the MT template. Nice logo.

Posted by: http://www.meki.tk/ at April 3, 2003 10:33 AMthanks for the kind words!
shannon, you should try knitting. the basic two stitches are pretty easy to understand. i only know those two stitches... i taught myself to knit about 10 months ago from a simple book. i'm addicted and love it!
Posted by: Michelle at April 3, 2003 12:23 PMOooh, I saw that hat too! It was a fun series to watch. I really enjoy reading your blog. I think I got it through not martha, who knows for sure, though? Happy Day!
Posted by: Vanessa at April 3, 2003 12:37 PMThat hat turned out great. Love the subtle stripe, but those pom-poms totally make it. Will definitely be trying to recreate that myself soon.
Posted by: Ciscley at April 4, 2003 12:00 AMbetter (maybe?) photo posted now...
ciscley -- it's really easy. i'm going to post the pattern to share... already wrote it for someone else, just need to HTML-ize it for my site! :)
Posted by: Michelle at April 4, 2003 12:04 AMI love your site. I got the link from "Not Martha" too. I adore that hat. I would really like to make a hat like that, but I only learned to knit a few months ago and have never done anything but scarves. Do you have any pointers?
Posted by: amanda at April 4, 2003 02:23 PMamanda, it's really simple. and since it has no decreases in it, it's pretty basic and straight-forward knitting. i'm working on writing out the pattern... will be up soon.
Posted by: Michelle at April 4, 2003 03:46 PMHere's my attempt at your pattern. My daughter loves it.
