What a cute idea, I love it! Another use for leftover clay: you can wrap it around the tops of house keys to identify/decorate them.

What a tremendously cute idea! I have a ton of those round Sour Altoid tins sitting around that I haven't figured out what to do with yet.

Have you tried this with the AOL tins, or do you think they might be too thin?

jenn: i have seen a few aol tins covered in polymer -- so it's do-able. i'm looking at one of those tins right now and it seems thin, but looks like it would be possible -- maybe just cover the sides in a skinny rope instead of trying to smooth it down flat?

I think I'll do what you suggested--just a thin rope. And I'll add feet to the bottom to kind of give it some more elevation.
