brother. boat. highway. police. 1100 news.
a few days ago, my oldest brother was stopped at a red light on a highway in chattanooga, tn. the light turned green and he began to drive on. "snap!" he looked in the rear-view mirror and saw the boat he'd been towing rolling back, away from his truck, off the trailer and into the road.
quick-thinking boy he was, he immediately dialed 911 and proceeded to report the mishap. meanwhile, he investigated the damage -- straps that once held secure had broken and one ski boat was toppled over on its side lying in the middle of the highway. the police arrived with no answers as to how to get the boat back onto it's trailer. the local news happens to drop by to tape the bizarre scene. the boy decided it was time to call the boat maintenance shop he just visited to find out their suggestion for getting the boat off the road.
boat shop people arrive, and with the help of my brother (and assuming the police) they leveled the boat back up right and lifted it back onto the trailer. fiasco over. the news, that night, airs the event as one of it's top stories... and jokes that it looked like a drought hit the highway. i wish i could have been there.
