something i don't understand is why do you always see one shoe on the side of the road. where's the shoe's companion? does the owner realize the shoe is missing? how did it get to the middle or side of the road to begin with? who picks up the shoe, and if they do what do they do with it (presuming they aren't the owner and have a match)?
