in other news, i went to the ER yesterday to have my back checked out. they took about six x-rays of my back and the doctor determined nothing serious was noticeably wrong. he gave me a week's worth of muscle relaxers, pain relievers and pills to stop swelling.

my favorite day of the entire year is almost here -- halloween. although, i really don't get to enjoy it like i used to, since i don't dress up or pass out candy. i did carve a pumpkin last week... just like i do every year around this time.

did you remember to set your clocks back last night?? it's really an hour earlier than you think it is.

friday was my 24th birthday.
let me give you the run down of it. friday, i woke up after about five hours of sleep, drove two hours to birmingham to have lunch with kristina. three hours later, i met amy at the galleria (mall) and we drove another two hours to auburn. met her brother for dinner. after an hour and a half wait, we were seated. ate, left. at a red light, some random joe decides to ram his car into the back of mine. spend about 30-45 minutes dealing with him and cops. leave and head back to hotel where i get zero sleep because my back is in serious pain from the "wreck." get ready the next morning for the football game and sit in the blazing sun and heat for three hours. leave, hang out at amy's brother's place and go back to hotel to get, again, zero sleep because of my back. get up and get ready for the long four hour drive back home, where i sit right now. happy birthday to me.
otherwise, before i left for the weekend... i had a pretty decent bday celebration. jon fixed me up with some fantastic surprises -- one of which will debut sometime soon and replace this place. he rocks my world.

october is breast cancer awareness month. the susan g. komen website provides info on how to perform self breast exams, as well as other information regarding awareness. not only are women affected with this disease, but men are as well.

on a completely different note, of incredibly less importance, i got two new pairs of tennis shoes tonight. both are skechers. the first pair is my favorite -- basically they slip on and have elastic bands where the laces should be. the second pair are the same as my old pair i wear now, except the color is different. happy early bday to me.

in two weeks we'll be adjusting to the idea of a new president. do you have any clue who to vote for? i'm pretty set on my decision, but this link provides a quick comparison of various candidates for prez. after looking it over, i'm still voting for the same guy.

a few minutes late happy 23rd bday to one of my best friends, kristina. she is recently engaged and has asked me to be her maid of honor. this is all new for me to be involved in a wedding b/c kristina is the first of my close friends to be planning a wedding. congrats and happiness to her!

today's been a nice, carefree day. looking forward to the weekend. i need to buy a disposable camera so i can take pictures of the beautiful turning leaves and post them here. there is this one tree in particular that i saw the other day -- it was the most brilliant orange at the bottom and a lime green mixed throughout the top. i don't think many leaves had fallen from it b/c it was so full. i've never seen one like it. fall is finally here.

i'm really annoyed at the fact that earthlink is apparently down right now. i can't do anything. and i'm especially annoyed that i know i have an email waiting for me, but i can't get it. boo.
i wish what i see on my computer screen, when i design this page, was the same as what you see on your screen. i also wish what i see in my page editor was the same as what actually appears on the internet.

this is a rather time wasting site -- adflip.com. it has print ads indexed for perusing. it's interesting, but very few ads i recognized.

did you know that yesterday was friday the 13th? and did you know that there was a full moon? did you know that it's something like another 17 years before there is a full moon on friday the 13th? the most memorable friday the 13th in my life: my grandmother died on friday the 13th of september 1996.

oh, the joys of reading about your conservative, baptist, tight-lipped alma mater in the newspaper. today, i learned that the college directory has a pornographic cover on it. with a little effort, i was able to find the original, unblurred photo that the designer used from the internet. what is so stupid is that it's incredibly obvious what's in the photo -- how much blurring did he think would cover this? now, according to the latest reports, he may be kicked out of school for this. way to go -- on his senior year. my favorite quote that keeps appearing: "they won't let us have MTV, but we've got pornography on the directory." go samford.
i completely understand how something like this could get by the administration and advisors. i worked with several campus publications, including this one involved in the scandal, and we rarely ever saw our advisor. easily something could get sent to the printers via a student, signed off by a student editor and distributed by the student staff.

october... my very favorite month. not just b/c it's bday month (celebrating my bday isn't on my list of fav things), but b/c it always means that fall is (or should be) in full force, and that halloween (my fav holiday) is just around the corner.
here are two songs: i believe by stevie wonder and evaporated by ben folds five. it's the words, but mostly the way they are sung.
